USB to Serial cable for Garmin GPS III plus November 14, 2008 Hal Hughes (Oak Ridge, TN) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Just purchased the USB to serial cable for my older Garmin GPS III+ (my new computer doesn't have a serial port). The driver software loaded easily. I initally got a hardware install error when the device was plugged in. I opened the "Device Manager" and uninstalled the device then the ran "New Hardware Wizard" which correctly installed the GPS device. The data transfer went smoothly with MapSource. Probably should have just tried to simply "plug-and-play" rather than install the device driver in hindsight.
Works perfectly with Garmin Etrex Vista August 28, 2009 Darrell L. Tate 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Cheap and perfect piece of equipment. Garmin sells one like this for 60 bucks. I would take this over any other one. I did have some confusion setting it up since the disk that they send is for more than just one type of cable but I am from Georgia so I am not all that smart. Great product!
It works! March 4, 2010 Frank S. King 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought a new computer that didn't have a serial port but I have things that require a serial port. It comes with a driver disk. You run the program on the disk to create the driver. I had to set it to serial port 6 to get it to work. Everything runs quicker than with a real serial port and some things time out too soon, but it works and that's what I need.

The cable works as advertised and allows me to download my garmin GPS info to newer computers.
